The word teach has origins in the Greek world δείκνυμι (deíknūmi) which means "to show". The purpose of the art of teaching is to show students new ideas and skills that were previously unknown to them. This requires that the teacher constantly be learning new techniques and skills themselves. It is my belief that teaching is learning and that the two go hand in hand and depend on each other to thrive.
A high quality music education is something that should be easily accessible to any student no matter their location or socioeconomic status. It is my firm belief that music has the power to transform individuals into compassionate citizens whom not only care about the quality of work that they do, but do their very best to ensure that the community as a whole is successful. It is vital to communicate to students they can do well and you will support them in their individuality.
